Ghanaian musician and newly elected Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Kwame A Plus, has opened up about his journey to public office and his vision for contributing to the creative arts sector.
Speaking to Graphic Showbiz, he reflected on the importance of education in shaping his career and lauded dancehall star Shatta Wale for his persistent advocacy for the betterment of the industry.
“I went back to have a Bachelor’s degree, a Master’s, and an LLB,” he shared. “I armed myself with some requisite knowledge, and I’m glad about the outcome today.”
A Plus’ academic pursuit was deliberate, equipping him with the tools needed to navigate the complex corridors of policy-making and governance.

Despite his roots in the music industry, A Plus made it clear that his parliamentary focus would not solely revolve around championing creative arts.
However, he emphasized the importance of meaningful contributions to the sector and praised Shatta Wale for his outspoken efforts over the years.
“Shatta Wale has been talking too much sense. They should go and listen to what he says—I know it will help them,” he said, referencing Wale’s consistent calls for structural reforms and better opportunities for creatives.
Shatta Wale, a polarizing yet influential figure in Ghana’s entertainment industry, has long used his platform to highlight issues affecting artists, from inadequate support systems to unfair practices in royalties.
A Plus believes that these conversations, while sometimes controversial, are necessary for change.
