Shatta Wale has never shied away from sharing the raw, unfiltered moments of his journey to success.
One such pivotal moment, which has stayed with him throughout his career, was when Tinny, a fellow artist, discovered him while he was still struggling on the streets of Labadi.
In a recent appearance on the Time with Hammer podcast, Shatta Wale reminisced about the moment that marked his second breakthrough in the music industry.
“Tinny met me in Labadi when I was on the streets, and I was staying with some friends in Labadi. He listened to my song and came to look for me in my house.
“That was like my second breakthrough,” Shatta Wale shared with a nostalgic smile. At the time, Shatta Wale was still finding his footing in the competitive world of music.
Labadi, though a bustling area, was far from the glamorous life that many would associate with rising stars.
It was here, in this humble environment, that his talent caught the attention of Tinny—an established name in the industry.
“I was home and someone came to call me that Tinny was looking for me, everyone had already gathered outside.
“He was in his car, and I heard him mention my name that I should come closer,” Shatta Wale continued, his voice filled with surprise as he recalled that day.
“I then asked myself that ‘am I that important?’” The moment was a turning point for Shatta Wale.
To be recognized by someone like Tinny, a respected figure in the Ghanaian music scene, was not just a validation of his talent—it was a confirmation that he was on the right path.
