Comedian Waris has jabbed Muslims who travel to Mecca to stone Satan, highlighting the fact that the true Satans are the politicians who govern our country.
Waris, who is a Muslim himself, pointed out the prevalent issues of mass unemployment, unreliable power supply, corruption, lack of infrastructure, and other significant problems faced by the general public under the current New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.
The Ghanian comedian who became an entrepreneur by opening a restaurant, finds it peculiar that religious individuals would prioritize going on the Hajj pilgrimage and stoning Satan when the real Satan is the politician responsible for inflicting hardships on ordinary Ghanaians.
During the Hajj pilgrimage, Muslims perform the symbolic stoning of the devil, known as Rami al-Jamarat, on the outskirts of Mecca city in western Saudi Arabia. This ritual takes place on the second day of Eid al-Adha and marks the beginning of the three-day Tashreeq ritual.
The Mina rituals commemorate Prophet Ibrahim’s act of stoning Satan, who is believed to have appeared three times to tempt the prophet.
Pilgrims throw small pebbles at three pillars for three consecutive days, symbolizing their defiance against the devil As per Islamic customs, each pilgrim is required to throw seven pebbles at each of the three pillars during the Tashreeq days.
Sharing his sentiment, he wrote;
“They left Ghana to Mecca 🕋 to go and stone Satan when the real satans are in the country ruling us… there’s soo much hardship, no jobs, things are expensive, places are dirty, potholes, no street lights… no jobs after school, continues tax on covid hmmm 🤔”
