Sarkodie’s brand has received a significant boost after it was just announced that he would be performing at the 2024 Olympic Games opening ceremony.

This exciting development that has illuminated entertainment news in Ghana was revealed by Sarkodie’s personal DJ, DJ Mensah, in an interview on Accr-based Asaase Radio.

In addition to the Olympic Games performance, DJ Mensah also mentioned that Sarkodie has other high-profile shows lined up for later in the year, including one in the US and the Ghana Fest, which is similar to the Party In The Park event to be held in Canada.

Furthermore, DJ Mensah highlighted Sarkodie’s upcoming December concerts, emphasizing that they will cater to the musical preferences of his fans and Ghanaian music enthusiasts.

Blogger Olele Salvador captured footage of the interview and shared it on X as depicted below:

When is the 2024 Paris Olympics?

The 2024 Paris Olympics are scheduled to occur from Friday, July 26 to Sunday, August 11.

Preceding the Opening Ceremony on July 26, sporting events such as football, rugby sevens, handball, and archery will kick off on July 24 and 25.

A total of 32 sports and 206 countries will participate in this global event. Paris was chosen as the host city for the 33rd Summer Olympics seven years ago.

London has been the host of the Summer Olympic Games three times, making it the first city to achieve this feat.

As of 2022, Paris, Los Angeles, Athens, and Tokyo have each hosted the games twice, with Paris set to host for the third time in 2024, followed by Los Angeles in 2028.

Only five countries, including Australia, France, Great Britain, Greece, and Switzerland, have participated in every Summer Olympic Games. Among them, Australia, France, and Great Britain have won at least one medal at every edition, with Great Britain being the only one to win gold each time.

The United States holds the all-time medal count at the Summer Olympics and has topped the medal table on 18 separate occasions, followed by the USSR (six times), France, Great Britain, Germany, China, and the ex-Soviet ‘Unified Team’ (once each).
