Sam Smith’s new music video, “I’m Not Here To Make Friends,” is controversial for its NSFW content, showing off skin and sexually suggestive scenes.
Sam is featured in various eye-catching clothes, including one that displays breasts with nipple pasties attached. There are also instances in which Sam is doused in the face with water, which appears to be something that generally occurs behind closed doors.
Obviously, the backup dancers and extras flaunt their assets throughout the film in scantily clad attire. Therefore, objectively speaking, it meets the criteria for a historically provocative endeavor.
The English singer and songwriter has been trending all weekend due to this video, mostly provoking fury from those on the right, who deem it to be grossly improper, particularly with regard to age limitations and children who may stumble upon it on YouTube.
This argument asserts that the video is only a hypersexualized display of depravity for the sake of perversion, disguised as body positivity and LGBTQ+ liberation.
Of course, some disagree. On TikTok, influencer Max Hovey defended Sam and called the backlash misguided and misplaced.
“I’m Not Here To Make Friends” is one of the songs on Sam Smith’s recently released album, “Gloria,” his fourth studio album, released on January 27, 2023, through Capitol Records.
