It has been reported that Tanella Alleyne, a cousin of superstar Rihanna, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 28 in Barbados. This unfortunate event occurred six years after the tragic loss of the singer’s brother, Tavon.
Tanella was laid to rest in the St. George Parish Church in Barbados on Monday, where family and friends gathered to pay their respects. The funeral service featured a poignant tribute in the form of Rihanna’s song “Lift Me Up,” although it remains uncertain whether the singer herself was present.
During the eulogy, Alleyne’s adoptive mother, Julie-Ann Bryan, fondly remembered her as a woman who led a life filled with gratitude, exuding a remarkable level of confidence and a hint of boldness.
“There was something special about Nella,” she said according to Loop Barbados News.
“She was bold and courageous. Our love for each other was lit.”
Alleyne had experienced the heartbreaking loss of her twin sister, Taneisha, when they were only 14 years old.
According to a report by Metro, Rihanna, who recently welcomed her second child, a baby boy, on August 3, was observed to be visibly emotional during the funeral of Tavon. Witnesses reported that she was seen dabbing tears away from underneath her white sunglasses.
During the celebration of Tanella’s life, her family and friends were observed to be dressed in white. It is worth noting that in certain cultures, wearing white to a funeral or memorial service is considered a sign of respect for the deceased and their achievements.
