Rick Ross Highlights Stonebwoy as a Legend’ in His List of African Favourites

American rapper Rick Ross has once again shown his admiration for African talent.

While in Cape Town, South Africa, on January 15, 2025, Ross took to his Instagram to salute a few artists across Africa whom he considers to be global icons.

“Before I go any further, while I am in Cape Town, South Africa, I want to salute some of my personal favourites.

And these are global icons. They are Davido, Nasty C, Stonebwoy, Chop Sticks, Blaqbonez, and Psycho YP,” he shared on his social media.

This declaration not only highlights his respect for the African music scene but also further strengthens the growing cultural connection between the United States and Africa.

Rick Ross has been a strong advocate for building bridges between these two continents, recognizing the unique and influential voices of African artists who have reached global recognition.

In his post, Ross encouraged collabs between American stars with African artistes, adding, “These are my list of icons; let’s continue to build that bridge from the U.S.A. to Africa. Because they are legends.”

Rick Ross, born William Leonard Roberts II on January 28, 1976, is an American rapper, songwriter, and record executive.

He rose to fame in the mid-2000s with his debut single Hustlin’, which became a hit and helped launch his successful music career. Known for his distinct deep voice and lavish lifestyle, Rick Ross has become one of the most influential figures in hip-hop.

He is the founder of the record label Maybach Music Group (MMG), which has signed prominent artists such as Meek Mill, Wale, and French Montana.
