Odeneho Nana Oppong, former Director of Transport at the Presidency under the Akufo-Addo administration, has attributed the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 2024 electoral defeat to their abandonment of Rev. Isaac Owusu-Bempah.
Speaking in an interview on Okay FM, Oppong revealed that the renowned prophet played a crucial spiritual role in boosting Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s chances during the campaign season.
“Rev Owusu-Bempah said my star is high up. So, he used me as a point of contact for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to boost his chances of winning the 2024 election during the electioneering season,” he disclosed.
Recounting a significant spiritual exercise, Oppong stated: “I went to the mountains for the spiritual exercise with Rev Owusu-Bempah.
“Amid intense fasting and prayers, he switched my spirit with Bawumia’s spirit. For about 30 minutes, I couldn’t speak because my spirit was inside Bawumia. We even called him, but in the end, Rev Owusu-Bempah was dumped and nobody would pick his calls at the Jubilee House.”
He lamented that after Owusu-Bempah’s arrest, key figures in the NPP ignored his calls, even when he was hospitalised and handcuffed to his sickbed.
“When he was arrested, nobody picked his call from the Jubilee House. Even when he was hospitalised and was handcuffed on his sick bed, no NPP executive came to help him.”
Oppong criticized the party’s internal conflicts, advising that instead of issuing threats against members like Adwoa Safo, the NPP should focus on reconciliation.
“At this point, they should stop threatening disgruntled members like Adwoa Safo with disciplinary measures. It is about time they listened to grievances of members, patched up, and rebuilt the party.”
