Ghanaian dancehall artist Shatta Wale has expressed frustration with the country’s legal system, declaring he will not respond to a recent court summons involving a dispute with his former manager, Bullgod.
Speaking passionately during an interview on Angel FM in Kumasi, the outspoken musician revealed his grievances and shared his perspective on the ongoing issue.
“I want to tell every judge and lawyer that if people bring problems to them, and it’s not important, they should deal with them right there,” he said, emphasizing his weariness with what he considers unnecessary legal entanglements.

“As I’m talking to you now, Bullgod has served me a letter. How can you take my property and put it out there for free? But you would rather run to court.”
Shatta Wale, whose real name is Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., claimed that Bullgod had leaked an unreleased album, which he sees as a betrayal and an infringement on his rights. However, he criticized the legal process, questioning why judges don’t seek deeper context before requiring parties to hire lawyers.
“The judges won’t ask the real story behind the issue, but they want me to hire a lawyer. Can’t they ask Bullgod why he put my entire unreleased album out there? I’m tired of hiring lawyers.”
In his characteristic no-holds-barred manner, Shatta Wale pointed to a history of legal challenges he has faced, including his past arrest over a death prophecy.
“I was even jailed when some pastor predicted my death, and I’m still alive. What sort of country is this? How can all these foolish problems keep coming to me every day while I fold my arms and watch?”
The rift between Shatta Wale and Bullgod, once a close professional relationship, appears to have deteriorated significantly.
Shatta Wale revealed he had previously resolved an issue in court, where a judge had advised Bullgod to see him as a junior brother and resolve matters amicably. He now feels betrayed by the feud’s resurfacing.
“When we went to court the first time, the judge said, ‘Bullgod, Shatta is your junior brother, try and settle this matter.’

“And that’s how we took the issue out of court. I want to tell Bullgod that I won’t go to court again. I have given him $60,000 and a brand-new Sonata. He should return those things, or he should forget about the court.”
Expressing disdain for the repeated court summons, Shatta Wale made it clear that he has no intention of complying further, citing his discontent with a legal system he believes does little to support him.
“No judge can force me to go to court over and over. I don’t like those things. Going to court isn’t my talent. I didn’t cause any problem for Bullgod, so nobody should come and waste my time in this country. I’m tired. The country isn’t even helping me or protecting me. It’s the street that is helping me.”
