Rema caused quite a stir recently when he placed himself in the same league as Davido, Burna Boy, and Wizkid, despite his relatively short time in the music industry.
While he has certainly proven himself with hit songs and global success, many still believe he has yet to fully earn his place among the aforementioned artists.
Rema had a remarkable year in 2024, making history as the first African artist to reach a billion streams on Spotify.

His song ‘Calm Down’ has been a massive global hit, breaking records on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US.
In the tweet that caused the commotion, Rema declared the existence of a Big 4, asserting that Afrobeats surpasses any other genre with the prefix afro.

His stance elicited diverse reactions from online users, especially supporters from opposing fan groups.
In light of this, he released a fresh single called Hehehe, solidifying his assertion and providing explanations for why he is part of the elite group he referenced.
“No more big 3, there’s now a big 4. People go para but what for? Dem go say I don’t deserve it but that is an insult,” he sang.
