Joyce Blessing has shared insights about a memorable gift she received from the beleaguered music executive Nana Appiah Mensah, affectionately known as NAM1.
The gospel artist, who recently navigated a challenging divorce from her ex-husband Dave Joy, disclosed to Nana Romeo during an interview on Accra FM that her first encounter with NAM1 took place at an event hosted by an undisclosed bank.
Joyce said despite facing numerous technical difficulties during her performance, she managed to maintain her composure and deliver an enjoyable show for the audience, which left a significant impression on the former MezGold owner.
Recognizing her commitment and talent, NAM1 chose to express his gratitude substantially.
“The first time he met me was at a program for a bank,” Joyce Blessing recalled. “They did not bring the equipment, they thought calling an artiste for a gig includes us showing up with instruments and backups to perform.
Our job was just to show up and perform using their set-up. They hadn’t set anything up when we arrived so I had to sacrifice myself for the bank. Apparently, he was really satisfied with my effort.”
During their subsequent meeting, Joyce Blessing expressed her astonishment when NAM 1 presented her with a substantial gift of GHS 10,000, a considerable sum at that stage of her career.
This gesture of generosity from NAM 1 stands out as one of the most unforgettable experiences in Joyce Blessing’s professional journey.
The discussion was initiated to explore the topic of how artists receive gifts from their fans and other people they barely know.
