Popular Ghanaian media personality and tourism advocate, Gilbert Abeiku “Santana” Aggrey, has stirred controversy after a video of him urging his family members and listeners to abandon the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and join the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) went viral.
“If you’re my family member and you support NPP, stop! Quit the NPP and join the NDC. The NPP can’t help you; they have nothing better to offer,” he declared.
In the same video, Abeiku Santana showered blessings on President John Mahama and First Lady Lordina Mahama, acknowledging their contributions to the nation.
“President Mahama, may God bless you and grant all your needs, and Madam Lordina Mahama, may God bless you and grant your heart desires for the good works you have done,” he stated.
His remarks have sparked debates, with some praising his boldness while others criticize his open partisan stance. The viral video surfaced days after Abeiku Santana’s appointment as Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) by President Mahama.
Known for his commitment to tourism promotion, Abeiku Santana is the CEO of Kaya Tours and has played a significant role in boosting Ghana’s image as a prime travel destination.
His appointment to the GTA has been met with approval from industry stakeholders, who see his influence as an asset to the country’s tourism sector.
