Energy Minister John Jinapor has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to retrieving over 1,300 missing containers belonging to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and bringing those responsible to justice.
Speaking in an interview on TV3, Jinapor dismissed any claims of political persecution, insisting that the state cannot allow public assets to vanish without consequences.
“There are also reports of some other areas where they are picking intelligence. They will trace all of them, retrieve all the containers as soon as possible, and put the perpetrators before a court of competent jurisdiction.
The government will not be deterred by claims of witch-hunting. We cannot sit back and watch public assets disappear without taking action. The law will take its course, and all those behind this will face justice.”
The missing containers, which were meant to be cleared at the Tema Port, have raised concerns about corruption and mismanagement within ECG. Jinapor assured that law enforcement agencies are actively working to recover the assets and ensure accountability.
This development has sparked public debate, with many calling for transparency in the investigation and strict measures to prevent future occurrences.
