Earlier this week, an incident occurred at Brookside Pups in Pennsylvania, where a puppy was reported stolen.
The Wilkes-Barre Township Police Department utilized social media to inform the public of the situation by sharing a photograph of the missing puppy, along with an image of the alleged perpetrator. However, the individual depicted in the photograph was mistakenly identified as Lil Uzi Vert, causing confusion among his fans. The post was subsequently removed after approximately 30 minutes.
It has been determined that the confusion arose due to the pet store providing the police department with the social media account of the wrong individual, who had used Lil Uzi Vert’s image as their profile picture.
The police department has since corrected their error by sharing a photograph of the actual suspect, who also has facial tattoos. The police department has attributed the mistake to the pet store’s provision of incorrect information.
It looks like Roc Nation was pretty upset by the whole thing, based on a statement they shared with TMZ about the mix-up. “The Wilkes-Barre Township Police Department should be embarrassed and ashamed for disparaging [Uzi’s] character.
This grave error could’ve had significant repercussions on Uzi’s career and epitomizes how Black men can be wrongfully charged and arrested by police departments across the country.” They continued, “Uzi loves all animals and this serious mistake has deterred the apprehension of the kidnapper. Our collective hope is that the puppy is safely and promptly rescued.” The stolen puppy’s whereabouts, unfortunately, remain unknown.
Lil Uzi Vert is a renowned American rapper, singer, and songwriter hailing from Philadelphia. His initial breakthrough came with the release of the commercial mixtape Luv Is Rage (2015), which led to a recording contract with Atlantic Records, under DJ Drama’s Generation Now imprint.
Lil Uzi Vert’s debut single “Money Longer” in 2016 garnered mainstream attention, acting as the lead single for the subsequent mixtape Lil Uzi Vert vs. the World (2016), which also featured the song “You Was Right”. The artist went on to release two more mixtapes in 2016 and 2017, including a collaboration with Gucci Mane. Lil Uzi Vert’s feature on Migos’ single “Bad and Boujee” topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart, followed by their first top ten single “XO Tour Llif3”, which won the MTV Video Music Award for Song of Summer.
