As per the MyNewsGH report, a police dispatch rider in his early 30s died in a ghastly accident while escorting Shatta Wale from the Tamale Airport to Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region.
The incident reportedly took place on the Tamale-Bolgatanga Highway as the convoy was heading towards Bolgatanga for an alcoholic beverage promotional event.
The unfortunate collision occurred when the deceased officer, who also served as a rider for former president John Kufour, was leading the convoy on his motorcycle and collided with another vehicle on the highway.
According to the report, the incident happened around 4:45 pm on Thursday, May 30, 2024. The dispatch rider, identified as 38-year-old Sergeant Frempah Bismark, was travelling from Bolgatanga towards Tamale when the accident occurred.
The collision took place near Savelugu, specifically on the outskirts of Gbimsi village, when the outrider crashed with a Toyota Sienna vehicle bearing the registration number AS 5979-21.
The vehicle, driven by Baba Francis, 34 years old, was carrying five passengers and was travelling from Tamale towards Bolgatanga. Tragically, the officer, riding a motorbike with the registration number AS-8297-22, lost his life at the scene of the accident.
However, the driver of the Toyota Sienna and the passengers managed to escape without any injuries. Upon receiving the information, a police team led by ASP/Mr. W Fuseini promptly arrived at the scene.
They transported the body of the deceased motorcyclist to the Tamale Teaching Hospital, where Dr. Mohammed Wumpini, the attending medical doctor, confirmed his unfortunate demise.
