Physically Disabled Society Asks Shatta Wale To Apologise To Stonebwoy Over Offensive Remarks

, Ghana Street Journal

The Ghana Society of the Physically Disabled (GSPD) has called on Shatta Wale to issue an apology to Stonebwoy for his offensive remarks, which targeted Stonebwoy’s disability.

In response to Shatta Wale’s disrespectful behaviour, GSPD expressed disappointment that such a derogatory statement came from someone of his stature.

The society emphasized that Shatta Wale’s comment implied that individuals with disabilities are facing punishment as a result of their wrongdoing.

GSPD firmly warned Shatta Wale and demanded that he retract his statement, apologize to all individuals with disabilities, and remove the video from social media platforms.

Furthermore, GSPD reminded him that making derogatory remarks about someone’s disability is a punishable offence under the Disability Act 715.

The beef between the two was augmented recently during the ‘Salafest’ concert, organized by Baba Sadiq on Thursday, April 11, 2024, as part of the Eid ul Fitr festivities.

It is alleged that Stonebwoy, upon learning that Shatta Wale was also scheduled to perform at the concert, decided to boycott the event. In reaction, Wale while performing for his fans stopped and unleashed a barrage of insults at Stonebwoy, targeting his disability.

Check out the full statement issued by GSPD.

The Ghana Society of the Physically Disabled (GSPD) has seen a video circulating on social media where Shatta Wale mocks Stonebouy with his disability.

In the said Video, Shatta Wale said among other negative statements “You are a bad person that is why God made you a disabled person, you are a disabled person don’t try and fight an able person”

By this statement he is trying to say all persons with disabilities are bad that is why God has made us who we are, This primitive statement should not have come from a high profile personality like Shata Wale.

This is an act of irresponsibility and this should be condemned by all. We want to remind shatta Wale that a section of his own fans who are making him who he is, are persons with disabilities. Did he think how they will feel? or Shatta Wale thinks he has made it so he does not care?

The GSPD takes exception to this statement and ask Shatta Wale to retract the statement, remove such video from social media and apologize to all persons with disability and Ghanaians.

The GSPD reiterated that being a person with disability does not mean you are cursed, or God is punishing you.

Using a person’s disability to mock him or her or making derogatory remarks about a person’s disability is a punishable offence by law, refer to the Disability Act 715.

We advise the public to embrace persons with disability and be empathetic towards them. “Disability indeed can be anyone’s lot at any given time.”
