In a recent interview, King Paluta explained to Abeiku Santana his reasons for performing for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), despite facing criticism from many of his fans regarding his ties to political organizations, especially given his relatively brief career in the entertainment industry.
He clarified that performing at political events does not equate to endorsing a specific party.
Additionally, he humorously remarked that he is reclaiming the funds he has paid due to the contentious e-levy tax, which is one of several taxes that many Ghanaians have deemed unjustly imposed by the current administration.
“Aside business they should know that we are not enemies. It is us against them. If a brother is winning we have to be happy for them. Do you know the E-levy I’ve paid?
“I’m always sending money. If I shoot a video and send Ghc 50,000 to the movie director, I pay an e-levy of Ghc 5,000.
“So if I have an opportunity to reduce get some money that will make up for the losses I’ve made, you say I should not go? What are you talking about? They should stop attacking us,” he said.
When Abeiku Santana inquired if he has received a mansion and a car from the NPP over his loyalty to them, the artist neither confirmed nor denied it.
Instead, he humorously expressed his anticipation for such an opportunity.
King Paluta further explained that the NPP is not using his song exclusively for their campaign but simply plays it during their campaign events.
He noted, “Every political party uses this song; it’s not just the NPP. In any case, the song is out there and accessible to everyone. Even mechanics play the song at their workshops.”
He further emphasised that the song is not exclusive to the NPP, mentioning that he has seen other political parties using it during their campaigns.
“I have seen videos where other political parties are jamming to the song,” he retorted.
