Oprah Winfrey has addressed rumours about being paid $1 million to host a glitzy town hall event for Vice President Kamala Harris, refuting claims that she received any money for the engagement.
A TMZ reporter in Santa Barbara approached the billionaire media icon, who asked if Harris’s campaign had compensated her for the September event. Winfrey swiftly dismissed the notion, responding simply, “Not true. I was paid nothing. Ever.”
While avoiding questions about the recent election results, Winfrey clarified her non-participation in political campaign transactions.
Reports from The Washington Examiner stirred speculation about Harris’s campaign finances, noting that Winfrey’s Harpo Productions had purportedly received $1 million from the Harris team following the event—Winfrey’s denial counters this claim, shedding light on the scrutiny surrounding high-profile endorsements and campaign spending.

A deeper look reveals staggering figures from the Harris campaign’s financial expenditures. According to a Financial Times analysis, Harris’s campaign accumulated $1.2 billion, more than double the $750 million spent by Donald Trump’s team.
Additional reports indicate that the campaign directed six figures toward a custom set for Harris’s appearance on the popular podcast Call Her Daddy, hosted by Alex Cooper.
This recording reportedly took place in a Washington, D.C., hotel room, where crews meticulously recreated Cooper’s Los Angeles set, underscoring the high production values the Harris campaign employed to reach voters.
With contributions from affiliated PACs and the Democratic National Committee, Harris’s campaign raised over $2.3 billion, ultimately spending $3.5 billion on the presidential race, setting a record as the most expensive U.S. election to date.
Trump’s team and Republican affiliates, by comparison, raised $1.8 billion, though detailed spending information has yet to be fully disclosed.
