A tragic incident occurred on October 24, 2023, when a Kia truck transporting beer ran straight into the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) office at Oko Dan in the La township of the Greater Accra Region.
Regrettably, this unfortunate event led to the loss of one life, while another individual suffered severe injuries.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the truck driver encountered difficulties due to a brake pad malfunction, ultimately causing the devastating accident. In response to the situation, emergency services promptly dispatched fire service and police officers to the scene to provide necessary assistance and manage the aftermath.
A member of the Public Relations Department of the Ghana National Fire Service, ADO1 Alex Nartey, speaking on the matter said, “Our control room received a call about an accident on the Labadi station road. We quickly came and upon arrival, they realized that they had to call their rescue team to augment the process. It was a truck full of beer that had run through the NPP office at Labadi killing one person in the process and critically injuring another.”
“Our men were able to help in rescuing the casualties involved. As of now, the operation has been successful. My condolences to the family of the bereaved. We will advise people to be very cautious to avoid such incidents during the festive season,” ADO1 Alex Nartey added.
