In a heart-to-heart conversation with Roselyn Felli on Joy Prime, gospel musician Joe Mettle shared his deep and lingering grief over losing his beloved dog, KODA.
“KODA’s death was a difficult moment and still is,” Mettle confessed, his voice weighed down with emotion. He described how the pain of losing his furry companion continues to be a profound part of his life.
“Sometimes we’re still living in denial about the fact that maybe he’s still around,” he shared, highlighting the emotional struggle many pet owners face when they lose an animal that has become a significant part of their lives.
Mettle’s bond with KODA wasn’t just that of an owner and his pet—it was a genuine friendship. His words reflected this sense of loss, not just of a dog, but of a faithful companion who shared in his daily routines.
“Once in a while, you have the awareness that he really is gone,” Mettle added, revealing the bittersweet moments of realization that hit him unexpectedly.
Whether it’s an empty corner where KODA used to curl up or the absence of his excited barks, these reminders make the healing process slow and painful.
Meanwhile, the final funeral rites for the deceased singer are set to take place on Friday, September 20, at the KICC Dominion Center, located off Spintex Road.
