New Afrobeats musician Olivetheboy has topped the chart as the most streamed Ghanaian artiste from January to June of 2023, according to data compiled by Chartmetrics and Soundcharts.
Two of the most prominent companies in music data analytics, Chartmetrics and Soundcharts, compiled a report tracking streaming data for Ghanaian musicians and their songs on five of the most popular streaming services: Spotify, Audiomack, Tiktok, Boomplay, and YouTube.
It’s no secret that King Promise’s Terminator and Stonebwoy’s Into the Future are both amazing, but the fact that 20-year-old newbie Olivetheboy was able to dethrone music kings like Black Sheriff, Sarkodie, Gyakie, and KiDi is still shocking.
In May 2023, Olivetheboy released the smash track Goodsin, which is currently the most Shazamed song in Ghana and Nigeria. Tiktok challenge by performer and influencer Endurance Grand led to the single’s rapid rise in popularity, making it the fastest Ghanaian song by an upcoming artist to reach ten million digital streams.
According to Chartmetrics, Goodsin by Olivetheboy is the most streamed Ghanaian song of 2023 and the most charted, ranking at number 1 on several major music charts on the continent.
