The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially referred former Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo, to its National Disciplinary Committee for alleged breaches of party directives.
In a statement dated March 20, 2025, the NPP General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, stated that Adwoa Safo had defied a party directive instructing members to refrain from public discussions that could create disaffection within the party.
“Following the directives issued to all members of the New Patriotic Party to cease discussions on matters that create disaffection within the party in the media, Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo’s comments in the media, particularly on the Pulse Show of Joy News, are in clear contravention of the directive issued to all NPP members,” the statement read.
The party stressed that its constitution explicitly bars members from making statements that could damage its reputation or unity.
“As she is aware, the directive explicitly states that all party members must cease discussing party issues that create unrest, negativism, and disaffection on media and other related platforms,” the statement continued.
The former MP and Deputy Majority Leader is accused of violating the principles of discipline, loyalty, and unity within the party. The NPP stated that her actions do not only reflect poorly on her but also breach Article 3(5) of the party’s constitution, which mandates members to protect and defend the party’s name.
“In breach of the above provision of the Party’s constitution and the directives issued earlier, Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo is hereby referred to the National Disciplinary Committee of the Party for further action,” the statement concluded.
