Singer Isaiah Kwadwo Ampong, widely recognized as Great Ampong, has expressed his disappointment that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has not returned the deep affection he holds for the party, which is evident through his extensive support.

During an interview on Assh FM, he articulated his concerns, emphasizing the sacrifices he has made, including being the first Gospel artist to create a song in support of the NPP at a time when many artists hesitated to do so due to fears of repercussions from the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

“Christ says to show love to each other, but we’re hardly seeing any of that. There was a time artistes were scared of endorsing the NPP because they were scared of what the NDC would do to them, Daddy Lumba was the first, and I was the second artiste and first Gospel artiste to compose a song endorsing the NPP,” he said.

Great Ampong expressed his disappointment, stating that despite his significant contributions to the party, he has received minimal recognition or compensation from the party leadership.

“Today, I cannot point to anything that has been done for me in return. I cannot go and demand any compensation from those in power.

“But none of them has remembered any of the sacrifices I’ve made, none of them have recognized the sacrifices many people, especially the creatives, have made for them,” he added.

Great Ampong noted that after performing at events, there is often no follow-up or support from the organizers.

“They would invite us to perform at an event, but after the event, no one calls to check up on any of us or offer any compensation. They hardly pick up your calls or reply to messages. Even the NDC would not do that,” he said.
