Ghanaian rapper, Trigmatic, has expressed his deep concern about the state of leadership in the country, pointing out what he views as a significant lack of accountability and responsibility from those in power.
During an appearance on TV3’s Showbiz 360, the award-winning artist delved into the challenges facing Ghana and how they have contributed to the frustrations of many Ghanaians, both within the country and abroad.
“When a person is given a position, it does not mean they are leading. Not all persons in positions are leaders. So I believe that the problem we have is a leadership problem.

“We lack accountability. Leaders don’t even want to be accountable for anything. Things are not going right as they should,” Trigmatic stated passionately.
In his critique, Trigmatic highlighted the culture of fear that permeates the country’s political and social landscape. According to him, the tendency for issues to be politicized discourages many from voicing their concerns, as they fear backlash or being caught up in partisan arguments.
“Everything you say or do will be politicised. Many people are afraid, so they tend rather not to talk or leave the country,” he explained, pointing to the silence of many citizens as a symptom of this broader issue.
The artist noted that many Ghanaians who relocate overseas often express their dissatisfaction with the system, lamenting the recurring cycle of unaccountable governance.
“And this has been a cycle that’s been happening over and over. Anytime I travel, I meet a Ghanaian who is unhappy about the system.
“And then my question is, so when or how will it change? The only thing I can do is through my music… and so I put it in there,” Trigmatic said, referencing how he incorporates these sentiments into his music as a way of influencing change.
