In a recent interview with Joy Prime, gospel musician Sonnie Badu shared his disappointment over the lack of support he received from his colleagues and pastors following a serious accident just hours before his Rhythms of Africa concert in Accra on December 9, 2023.
“Not even a single one checked up on me,” Badu expressed. He revealed that, despite going through a traumatic experience, none of his fellow gospel artists or pastors reached out to offer any support.
“When I realized that not even a single gospel artist colleague or pastor would check up on me, that’s when I said even if I died, nobody cares; I have to rise up quickly.”
The gospel star further emphasized that, had the roles been reversed, he would have made an effort to check on others, regardless of their relationship status.
“Personally, if I heard that somebody had gone through something or seen it, I would have been calling. I don’t care whether I’m cool with you or not.
But not even one person did,” he added, expressing his dismay over the indifference he encountered.
Sonnie Badu, an internationally renowned gospel artist, has held several concerts in Ghana over the years.
One of his most notable concerts was Africa Worships with Sonnie Badu, which took place in 2014 and attracted thousands of worshippers.
Although Sonnie Badu is based in the UK, he has a strong fan base in Ghana and has performed at various events in the country.
Rhythms of Africa, held in December 2023, was another significant event, but it was not his first performance or major concert in Ghana.
