Ghanaian entrepreneur and Guinness World Record hopeful, Afua Asantewaa, has firmly denied rumours that she received a luxurious V8 vehicle and an apartment as a reward for her singathon attempt.
Speaking in an interview on Accra FM, she expressed disappointment over the false claims and urged the public to focus on the real story behind her journey.
“Recently, I went online and saw that I’ve been dashed a V8. People are bitter with me because they feel I’ve used state funds. But that’s not the case.
“Some are even claiming I was given an apartment, which are all lies because I am staying in my own house,” she stated.
The viral speculation suggested that Afua Asantewaa had received lavish gifts from the government or private sponsors as a form of appreciation for her Guinness World Record attempt. However, she made it clear that no such benefits had come her way.
Beyond addressing the rumors, Afua also reflected on her journey and how Mark Okraku-Mantey, the former Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, once suggested she pursue beauty pageantry instead of music.
“So when he came into my booth to greet me, I reminded him of what he told me years ago to audition for a pageant.
“I told him, ‘Do you remember you asked me to audition for a pageant? Today, I’m singing, and you have come to greet me. That’s the world for you,’” she recounted.
