Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has marked the end of his tenure with heartfelt reflections on his time in office.
On 18 January 2025, during a thanksgiving mass held in his honour at the Accra Ridge Church, Akufo-Addo shared two significant achievements that brought him fulfilment as he departed the presidency.
“I leave office with two great satisfactions. One is that the democratic values to whose sustenance I have devoted my life now appear to have taken deep roots in the body politic of our country, and I say Amen to that.
The second is that I came in peace, and I have left in peace,” he remarked, looking back on a leadership period that spanned over eight years, with two terms in office.

Akufo-Addo’s words reflected a deep sense of pride in Ghana’s growing democratic journey, something that he has championed throughout his political career.
Under his leadership, Ghana made strides in consolidating democratic practices and ensuring peaceful transitions of power—a legacy that the country will likely continue to build upon in the future.
Addressing a gathering of church members and the wider public, he continued, “My fellow Ghanaians, it has been the greatest honour and privilege of my life to have been elected twice to serve you as the President of the Republic.
“No matter the controversies that are inevitable in the assessment of that service, one thing I know from the bottom of my heart is that I did my very best.”
