Ghanaian actor Prince David Osei has taken a jab at former President John Dramani Mahama’s flagship proposal for a 24-hour economy.
In a recent social media post, Osei poked fun at the idea, particularly the feasibility of nightclubs and other businesses operating around the clock.
“I heard someone talking about licensing nightclubs (discotheques) and hook ups to operate 24/7, which doesn’t seem feasible as nightclubs are supposed to operate at night,” Osei remarked, pointing out the oddity of running nightclubs all day.
Shifting his focus, the actor also took the opportunity to praise Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for his efforts in transforming Ghana through digitalization.
“On another note, our Vice President Dr. Bawumia has been making a positive impact on Ghanaians through digitalization,” Osei noted, contrasting the current administration’s focus on technology with Mahama’s proposed economic vision.
Prince David Osei concluded his message by urging Ghanaians to make informed decisions at the polls. “It’s important to make wise choices, especially when it comes to voting.
Let’s vote for progress,” he added, signalling his support for the current government while subtly mocking Mahama’s ambitious 24-hour economy plan.
Mahama’s 24-hour policy: What is it?

The 24-hour Economy will be a deliberate policy intervention by the next NDC/Mahama government to encourage and support certain businesses and companies to operate 24/7, preferably in a three-shift system of 8 hours each, by creating an enabling environment that promotes productivity, competitiveness and well-paying jobs.
