Ghanaian musician turned successful entrepreneur, Nhyiraba Kojo has disclosed an encounter with an officer from the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) who threatened to launch an investigation into his wealth sources.
After discussing the lavish spending habits of patrons at Nhyiraba Kojo City Night Club during a media interview where he said some customers purchase drinks worth 2000 pounds and 3000 dollars, he received a phone call from an officer inquiring about his tax payments.
Despite assuring the officer that he diligently pays his taxes, the officer insisted on probing into his sources of wealth.
Nhyiraba Kojo said, “I had a conversation with a tax officer who mentioned that I had stated people come to my club to purchase drinks worth 2000 pounds and 3000 dollars. I assured him that I comply with tax regulations,” he told blogger Zionfelix.
The young man voiced his frustration regarding the ongoing scrutiny surrounding his wealth’s origins, despite the clear evidence of his numerous successful businesses, especially his nightclub, generating daily profits.
“I was taken aback. I couldn’t understand what I had done wrong. Is it because I am a successful youth?”
