Abronye DC, in an interview with Channel One TV, has claimed that while the National Investigations Bureau (NIB) quick to invite him for questioning over his allegations against President John Mahama, the same level of scrutiny had not been applied to members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who made serious allegations against the NPP.
Abronye DC is under investigation by the NIB for claiming that Mahama was withholding GH₵550 million meant for dismissed appointees at the Jubilee House.
He was invited to provide evidence supporting these claims on February 26, 2025.
However, in his remarks, Abronye questioned why the NIB was focusing on him when, during the NDC’s time in opposition, serious allegations were made against the NPP, particularly the so-called “Akyem mafia.”
In the interview, Abronye said: “There were serious allegations made by the NDC when they were in opposition.
“They called the NPP’s Akyem mafia a criminal syndicate involved in hoarding gold and stealing money, yet no one from the NDC was called in for questioning. Why the selective treatment now?”

Abronye’s comments were aimed at pointing out what he sees as double standards in the way investigations are being handled.
He continued, “The NDC made wild allegations about the Akyem mafia being involved in criminal activities, including gold smuggling and theft of state funds.
“But the director of the NIB didn’t invite anyone from the NDC for questioning. Yet, here I am, being invited to assist in an investigation over an allegation that doesn’t even have a criminal element to it.”
