In a recent edition of her political program dubbed Egyaso Gyaso, Afia Pokua, popularly known as Vim Lady, weighed in on the ongoing debate surrounding the electoral process in Ghana.
She expressed support for the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s call for an audit of the voters’ register but criticized the party’s approach, particularly the demonstrations and attacks on the Electoral Commission (EC).
“I support the NDC call for an audit for the voters’ register but the demonstration and constant attack on EC was needless,” Afia Pokua stated.
She emphasized that while the call for transparency in the voters’ register is valid, the methods employed by the NDC were counterproductive.
Vim Lady suggested a more constructive approach, stating, “Sit down with EC and solve the issue at IPAC.”
She advocated for dialogue and collaboration through the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) as a more effective way to address concerns and resolve issues.
Afia Pokua further criticized the NDC’s tactics, pointing out that their actions had diverted the EC’s focus. “NDC has made the EC leave important work that they are supposed to do to play defence tactics,” she remarked.
Her comments reflect a concern that the EC’s time and resources were being consumed by defensive measures rather than focusing on their primary responsibilities.
Her remarks underscore the importance of constructive dialogue and collaboration in resolving electoral issues, advocating for a more measured and effective approach to addressing concerns within the electoral system.
