Dutch-Ghanaian artist Nana Fofie has announced on X that she has parted ways with Nicki Minaj’s record label, as stated in a post on August 23.
While Nana did not elaborate on the reasons behind her departure, she expressed that the initial enthusiasm she felt upon joining the label did not meet her expectations.
She conveyed her deep gratitude for the opportunity but ultimately concluded that it was not the right fit for her.
GhanaStreetJournal came across her post which reads;
“Unfortunately the Label situation that I was very excited about… fell flat. I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity I was given, but in the end it wasn’t the right situation for me.
“I’m also not throwing shade. I was replying to the vile things some people be saying on this app.
“It’s only love from my end & I’ll continue to drop music independently for now. 💕”

In 2023, Nana Fofie expressed her excitement on Twitter after she was recruited by the Trinidadian-born rap star.
“Many are called, but few are chosen. Thank you Nicki Minaj for choosing me as one of the few. I’m ready to make history with you!”
Nicki Minaj had earlier revealed Nana Fofie’s signing to her label on her Apple Music podcast, Queen Radio, emphasizing the significance of nurturing emerging talent in the music industry.
She reflected on the support she received from Lil Wayne at the beginning of her career and expressed her intention to extend the same support to the artists under her label.
“I understand why people are coming out and they’re here today and gone tomorrow because there’s no structure. There’s no real person that believes in them. That’s like, nah, I’m gonna make it my business to see you shine,” she said.
