Mzbel has reignited a major conversation surrounding the Ghana Card—this time not for its intended purpose of streamlining identification but for its failure to serve its supposed role during a personal travel fiasco.
The staunch National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporter didn’t hold back as she aired her grievances about the much-touted card, championed by outgoing Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as an all-encompassing form of identification.
Mzbel’s frustration peaked after being unable to use the Ghana Card to resolve a travel hiccup, which raised questions about its actual utility.
In a heartfelt video shared with her followers on social media, the singer and radio persona detailed the incident that unfolded while she was trying to return to Ghana with her two children.
The ordeal began when she misplaced her purse, which contained her passport and other important documents. Desperate to find a solution, she presented her Ghana Card, only for airport officials to dismiss it as insufficient for completing the required travel procedures.
“They left me stranded because they said the Ghana Card wasn’t enough for the necessary processes.
How does that make sense when it’s supposed to be our ultimate form of identification?” Mzbel questioned, clearly upset.
Her attempts to reason with the officials fell on deaf ears, forcing her to call the Ghanaian embassy for assistance.
The entire experience not only left her feeling helpless but also underscored deeper issues within the system that the government had long promoted as a breakthrough in identification technology
