Singer Mzbel has announced her plans to move to Nigeria due to the ban imposed on Ghanaian celebrities promoting alcoholic beverages by the Food And Drugs Board (FDA).
The veteran Hiplife artist, also known as Belinda Nana Ekua Amoah, shared with Onua Showbiz’s Nana Kwame Gyan that if she secures any advertising contracts with alcoholic brands, she will relocate to Nigeria to capitalize on the opportunity.
In further elaboration, Mzbel, who is now a radio host, emphasized that if she is offered a deal with Joy Dadi that requires her to move to Nigeria for promotional purposes, she would readily accept and promote the brand on various social media platforms for all to see.
“I don’t know if the government will have to bring another rule that will ban us the Ghanaians from going to other countries to endorse alcoholic beverages. That is when I will stand as a citizen because that will be my right as an adult”, she said.
Her comments were made in response to a Food and Drug Authority rule that categorically forbids the use of “well-known celebrities or professionals” in the marketing of alcoholic beverages.
The FDA has since argued that their challenged guidelines are necessary to prevent young people from becoming addicted to alcohol due to the influence of celebrities.
