Eedris Abdulkareem has spoken highly of his wife for donating her kidney to save him.

In an interview with TVC Entertainment Splash, he disclosed that after learning that he had stage four kidney disease, he went for a consultation with his wife. He claims that the doctor advised him to find a donor as soon as possible in order to preserve his life.

The doctor reacted by saying it was not possible after the patient asked if they could find someone to donate blood for him. The potential partner had to be a relative and compatible as well.

When his wife said she would be a donor, he was shocked. She asked that the test be administered right away to determine their compatibility.

He continued by saying that the test was completed and their compatibility was established, and that is how he performed the surgery and treated the kidney.

Eedris Abdulkareem was born Eedris Turayo Abdulkareem Ajenifuja. He is a Nigerian hip-hop, R n B and Afrobeat artist, songwriter and singer. He was the lead rapper of the defunct Nigerian hip-hop boy band The Remedies.

In 2004, Abdulkareem released his third album, Jaga Jaga, a Yoruba term for “shambles”, declaiming corruption and suffering in Nigeria.

The title track was banned from radio by President Olusegun Obasanjo, but continued to be played in nightclubs and spots all over the country, and became a sort of underground Nigerian national anthem.

The album cover was by the renowned artist Lemi Ghariokwu, known for creating many album covers for Fela Kuti.
