The wife of journalist Stephen Kofi Adomah Nwanwani has opened up about the harrowing gunshot incident that left her husband injured during an event in Dormaa Ahenkro.
Speaking on the matter in a video sighted by Ghanastreetjournal, Nana Abena Etruba, known traditionally as the Benkumhene of Gomoa Amanful and widely recognized as Mrs. Miracle Adoma, recounted the distressing moment.
“Kofi was just doing his job, covering the event like he always does,” Nana Abena began, her voice tinged with frustration and disbelief.
“But instead of firing his weapon into the air as tradition demands, the musketeer aimed it across his shoulders. The result? Gunpowder hit Kofi right in the face, leaving him with a deep, bleeding cut. It was terrifying.”
Her anguish was compounded by what she described as negligence by the musketeer. “This wasn’t an accident,” she stated firmly.
“Accidents are unpredictable, but this could have been prevented with proper care and responsibility. How does someone mishandle a weapon at a public event like that?”
Nana Abena revealed that the incident had further consequences beyond her husband’s injuries.
“The gunfire didn’t just harm Kofi; it also damaged my camera,” she disclosed. “I managed to capture everything on film, and while I don’t intend to release the footage immediately, I won’t hesitate to share it if necessary.”
Her disappointment was palpable as she reflected on the incident.
“The musketeer’s actions have left us questioning the safety protocols at such events. Kofi was there to promote Dormaa’s culture’s beauty, not risk his life. It’s disheartening.”
While Nana Abena withheld additional details, she hinted that she might be compelled to speak further if the situation escalates.
“For now, I’ll leave it at this. But if I’m pushed, I won’t hold back,” she said, resolute.
