Sean Diddy Combs has expressed remorse for his inexcusable conduct following the release of CCTV footage allegedly depicting him assaulting singer Casandra Ventura aka Cassie.
In a video shared on his Instagram account, the renowned rapper acknowledged his accountability for his behaviour in the recorded incident.
The footage, which was broadcasted by CNN recently, seemed to capture Combs engaging in acts of aggression by kicking and shoving his former girlfriend within a hotel corridor.
“I was disgusted when I did it. I’m disgusted now,” he said in his statement.
“I went and I sought out professional help. I got into going to therapy, going to rehab. I had to ask God for his mercy and grace. I’m so sorry.”
CNN reported that the video was recorded at the now-closed InterContinental Hotel in Century City, Los Angeles. The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office stated on Friday that the alleged assault depicted in the video may be too old to pursue legal action.
In November of last year, Ventura settled a lawsuit against Combs, where she accused him of rape and sexual trafficking spanning over a decade. The settlement amount remains undisclosed.
Combs’ attorney, Benjamin Brafman, emphasized that the settlement did not imply any admission of guilt. Subsequently, multiple women have come forward and filed lawsuits alleging sexual and physical abuse by the rapper.
Last month, federal authorities conducted raids at his residences in Los Angeles and Miami, Florida, as part of an investigation into human trafficking.
