The family of the late Nigerian comic actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, has announced that his burial will take place on June 28, 2024.

The statement released by the family detailed the funeral arrangements, with the actor set to be laid to rest in his hometown of Amuri, located in the Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State.

The Okafor family of Eziokwe Amuri expressed their intention to honour the memory of John Ikechukwu Okafor, emphasizing his legacy of love, laughter, and vibrancy that continues even after his passing.

They have invited everyone to join them in commemorating their son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and in-laws on the specified date, June 28, 2024.

Mr Ibu passed away on March 2, 2024, after battling health issues like diabetes and high blood pressure that required multiple hospital visits. He reportedly died at Evercare Hospital in Lekki.

When news of his death spread on social media, fans expressed their sympathies on social media, recalling the movies in which the deceased actor starred.

The renowned actor, amidst his health issues, had his leg amputated as a life-saving measure.

Additionally, it is important to remember that following Ibu’s passing, we have also lost other prominent Nollywood actors like Amaechi Muonagor and Junior Pope, making this year a particularly tragic one for the film industry.

Muonagor died as a result of complications arising from kidney-related problems, diabetes, and stroke. The sad news occurred on Sunday, March 23, 2024.

Tragically, his demise occurred shortly after he reached out on social media, appealing for financial support to cover the expenses of a kidney transplant.

Recall that last week, a video of the actor who was battling kidney disease and required urgent financial aid to undergo treatment in India emerged online.

Moreover, Junior Pope tragically lost his life due to drowning. He, along with other actors and crew members, were aboard a boat en route to Asaba for a movie shoot.
