Ghanaian singer Bisa Kdei has downplayed the significance and interpretations people often attach to musicians performing at political rallies.
Speaking to Amansan Krakye, Bisa explained that musicians are simply conducting business to earn money and support their families.
He dismissed the idea that these performances indicate loyalty to a particular party or are aimed at using their influence to promote political campaigns.
While acknowledging that some musicians may be politically motivated, the Mansa hitmaker emphasized that most are primarily driven by financial incentives and have no real connection to the party.
“We don’t understand politics so when you see someone performing on a political platform then you get angry but at the same time musicians must also eat,” he told Amansan Krakye.
He continued, “The fans must also understand the artistes because we have to find means to put food on the table and we also have certain bills to settle as well.
“Let’s say a musician hasn’t gotten a show to perform for the whole year and he’s been invited to take a big amount to perform at a political show he’d have to do it,” he added.
“Accepting that money to perform at the political event doesn’t mean the musician supports that party but it’s their work in order to feed themselves and their family,” he told Amansan Krakye on Property FM.
