Most gospel songs are empty – Nana Romeo

In the most recent episode of United Showbiz, Nana Romeo expressed his belief that many gospel songs lack depth, highlighting their deviation from fundamental Christian values.

This statement follows recent discussions emphasizing the importance for Christians to refrain from performing secular music or collaborating with secular artists.

Additionally, the dialogue has included inquiries from Christians regarding the release of a gospel song by Ghanaian Highlife musician Kwabena Kwabena.

Nana Romeo, a presenter at Accra FM, criticized the gospel music industry for its inconsistencies, asserting that the lyrics of Kwabena Kwabena’s songs possess greater significance than those of numerous contemporary gospel tracks in Ghana.

“You will be surprised that on the day of judgement, those who do not look righteous would rather get into heaven than those who do.

“People are wondering why Kwabena Kwabena, who sings Highlife music, is composing a gospel song but I can tell you that Kwabena Kwabena’s recent gospel song makes more sense than a lot of gospel songs in the country currently.”

He added, “A lot of gospel songs in this Ghana are meaningless, there is no sense in them, but because the people who composed them identify as gospel musicians, we allow them.”

Additionally, Nana Romeo praised Kwabena Kwabena for his ability to create high-quality, soul-stirring music, which he believes is often missing from the works of many gospel musicians. He concluded by expressing curiosity about who might ascend to heaven on the final day.

“There are gospel musicians in this country engaged in a lot of atrocities, no one says anything. But Kwabena Kwabena composes a gospel song and they want to talk? I was touched by the song. Show me one gospel song that has more sense than this.

“That’s why I said that it will be shocking when those we expect to get to heaven don’t while those we don’t expect rather enter,” he said.
