Opanka has strongly responded to the few fans who criticized his new dumsor song, which aims to address the current power situation in the country and find a quick solution to it.
According to him, since he released the song, a small number of fans have suggested that he should focus on his stay in the US and leave the matters of Ghana to its citizens, as they believe he is enjoying his time there.
Opanka says he finds these comments to be a form of mental enslavement, as it is beyond his comprehension that some would argue that just because he is in the US, he should not use his voice to contribute to the betterment of his home country.
The good thing is that about 90 per cent of the fans are happy that I’m speaking on their behalf through my Dumsor Demonstration song Most of the fans are happy that I’m using music to address critical issues in our country but it’s only about 10 per cent of the fans who said I’m living a good life so why complain about other people’s suffering.
But that goes to show how we are mentally enslaved because if I’m living well and you are suffering and I’m speaking on your behalf that should tell you that I even care about you more than anything.
Continuing, he told of Property FM thus, “I’m not just focusing on myself so if you are telling me that I’m looking great and so I shouldn’t speak for you, that’s what’s making some of the musicians don’t want to care about people’s problems.
“But it’s not one person who sounds negative that will make me stop doing good so I keep doing the right thing because if one person insults me about 1,000 people will support me”.
