The ongoing buzz in the entertainment news and social media continues to revolve around Ebenezer Smith, also known as Chef Smith and his controversial Guinness World Record (GWR) incident.
Adding to the mounting evidence against him in light of the fraud allegations surrounding his supposed GWR achievement, Peter Agborvi, the General Secretary of the Chefs Association of Ghana, disclosed that Chef Smith is not a registered member of their association.
Agborvi mentioned that they reached out to Chef Smith’s team at the start of his cooking marathon to enrol him as a member due to his use of their logo, but he failed to comply.
In an interview with GHone TV, Peter Agborvi stated, “We contacted his team to register with us because he was using our logo during his cook-a-thon, but he didn’t.”

Recall that amidst the uproar caused by this claim, TV3 Ghana, a subsidiary of Media General, reached out to GWR to verify Chef Smith’s statement.
In a message sent directly to TV3 through X, GWR confirmed that the current record holder for the longest individual cooking session is still Alan Fisher from Ireland.
GWR clarified that Chef Smith does not possess the title of the longest cooking marathon and has not been granted any official certificate.
‘We can confirm this is not true. Chef Smith does not hold the GWR title and that is not our certificate,” GWR said in its response to TV3.
“The longest cooking marathon (individual) is 119 hr 57 min 16 sec and was achieved by Alan Fisher (Ireland) in Matsue, Shimane, Japan from 28 September to 3 October 2023,” GWR said.
