Travel blogger Miss Trudy has addressed speculations regarding her marriage to her Ghanaian husband, Wode Maya, in a recent video posted on her YouTube channel.
In a prior interview, she mentioned experiencing depression and clarified that her absence from travelling with Wode Maya for their content creation was misinterpreted as a sign that they had separated.
Following her comments, Kenyans, Miss Trudy’s compatriots, directed criticism towards Wode Maya, sending him threatening messages for allegedly mistreating a daughter of the nation.
During that particular interview, Miss Trudy had said; “We used to travel together all the time; life was amazing. We did that for many years. Then one day, Maya sat me down and told me that he couldn’t be travelling with me everywhere. I was shattered; I felt like my heart was broken. I cried and cried.
“I asked him why; I asked whether he didn’t love me anymore. I thought it was me and him against the world. I asked whether I was a burden to him. He has given me direction in life, and I felt like if he is no longer in my life, I’d feel so lost.”
However, in response to the criticism directed at her husband by Kenyans and other followers throughout Africa, Miss Trudy produced new content to clarify the situation and provide accurate information.
“I have been receiving phone calls from people who have been asking me what is really happening between me and Maya. The truth is that everything happening on the internet has actually caught me by surprise because I did not see it coming. I honestly did not see it coming. I am just in shock.
“I did an interview, and we talked about so many things. I was only trying to be honest about what was happening in my life. He asked me a couple of questions, and I answered truthfully. He asked whether we spend enough time together, and I said no, because that’s the truth. But people took this out of context. He asked how I was doing, and I said I was depressed. We all get depressed, don’t we? I was only trying to portray that my life isn’t perfect.”
She described the level of attacks currently thrown at her husband as intense and has insisted that he is not a terrible person.
“I don’t want my honesty to be the reason why Wode is seen as wicked. Now Maya is being attacked online. He is being attacked, left, right, center, forward. I know you guys care for me a lot, but Maya isn’t an evil person,” she emphasised.
