Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has reportedly dismissed around 20 employees for allegedly leaking sensitive company information to the media.
The move comes as part of a broader effort to reinforce internal security and prevent unauthorized disclosures of corporate discussions and upcoming projects.
Meta’s Chief Information Security Officer, Guy Rosen, emphasized in a company memo that such leaks not only pose security risks but also undermine team morale and disrupt company operations.
However, specific details about how the employees were identified or which departments were affected remain undisclosed.
This crackdown follows a pattern of strict internal policies at Meta. In October 2024, the company terminated over two dozen staff members for misusing meal credits—an incident that highlighted Meta’s no-tolerance approach to workplace policy violations.
The latest round of firings coincides with a wave of workforce reductions, including the recent dismissal of nearly 4,000 employees labeled as “low performers.”
Despite these layoffs, Zuckerberg has assured that Meta remains committed to expanding its AI capabilities and will recruit new talent to fill critical roles.
This development raises questions about workplace culture at Meta, with some employees reportedly concerned about increased surveillance and harsh internal policies. As Meta pushes forward with its AI and metaverse ambitions, maintaining internal trust while enforcing company regulations appears to be an ongoing challenge.
