In a passionate response to rumours circulating about previous comments, Nigerian comedian and actor AY Makun has made it clear that his recent frustrations have nothing to do with female colleagues in the entertainment industry.
Instead, he called for more unity and support among male actors, especially when it comes to promoting each other’s projects.
During a social media post, AY expressed his exasperation with the lack of support he’s received from some of his male colleagues.
“And I repeat, ‘WEY TIN MAN DO MAN?’” he began, echoing a popular Nigerian expression, emphasizing the frustration of seeing actors promote other films while neglecting their own, even when contracts were signed.

He continued, “Begging your fellow male actors to join you in promoting your film shouldn’t be a big deal. Especially when I have always been doing the same for everyone.”
For AY, the issue is not about undermining anyone but about fairness and reciprocity. “Do you know how frustrating it is to pay actors who end up promoting other films and abandoning the one that they are in… EVEN with signed contracts?” he asked, making it clear that his disappointment lies with those who fail to show commitment to the projects they are a part of.
Despite the backlash and speculations that his comments were directed at female colleagues, AY was quick to clarify.
“My last tweet has nothing to do with the hardworking women who are winning in the industry,” he stated.
“As they all have my direct support and encouragement to date.” The actor’s message was clear—he has no issue with women in the industry and has always supported their success. His frustration was solely aimed at his fellow male actors.
