Ghanaian actress Joselyn Dumas has weighed in on the tragic passing of John Paul Odonwodo, emphasizing that creatives should not lose their lives due to financial limitations.
She stressed the need for God to protect them and prevent premature deaths caused by struggles to make ends meet.
Additionally, the renowned actress and TV personality in the film industry highlighted the significance of providing actors and actresses with essential welfare support.
According to her, neglecting their basic needs is a violation of their human rights that must be addressed moving forward.
“Being refused the basic welfare needs on a production/film set in the name of budget constraint is a total violation of the right of a creative! may our lives not end abruptly in pursuit of our daily bread 🙏🏽. We must do better RIP #juniorpope May God comfort and strengthen his family. 🙏🏽💔,” she said in a tweet on X.
In related news, Emeka Rollas, the president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), has explained his first statement regarding Junior Pope’s survival despite reports of his death.
Rollas expressed disappointment as he had hoped for a different outcome after noticing signs of life in the actor. He added that despite efforts from two hospitals, Junior Pope could not be revived.
In addition to Junior Pope and Mr. Friday, Emeka disclosed that three other bodies remain missing.
The AGN president wrote in part on his Instagram page: “Its so so sad that our joy was shortlived. My first post was out of excitement when we noticed his tingling fingers. Two notable hospitals tried their best to revive him but to no avail. God knows the best.”
