A devastating fire outbreak has engulfed multiple two-story buildings in the bustling commercial hub of Adum, Kumasi, destroying shops and merchandise.

The inferno erupted around 6 a.m. at the popular Blue Light Arena, near Hello FM, and spread rapidly, leaving traders scrambling to salvage their goods.

Eyewitnesses reported scenes of panic as shop owners forcefully broke into their stores to rescue whatever they could before the flames consumed their businesses.

Most of the affected shops specialized in mobile phones, accessories, jewelry, and clothing. According to an eyewitness, the fire was triggered by a sparking electricity pole, which ignited the top floor of one of the buildings.

Nana Ama Ataffuah Quainoo, Programmes Director at Hello FM, confirmed that staff had to be evacuated as the fire escalated.

However, she expressed concern over the fire service personnel’s delayed response.

Several fire tenders eventually arrived at the scene, but firefighters struggled to contain the raging blaze. Authorities are yet to assess the extent of the damage and determine the full cause of the fire.
