Nigerian artist Timaya has shared insights into his perspective on marriage, relationships, and fatherhood during an interview on Naija FM.

The “Dem Mama” crooner, who is celebrated for his honesty, did not hold back as he delved into topics many shy away from.

“I’ve never been a marriage guy right from time, but it can change because marriage dey crase?” he said with a laugh, his trademark humor shining through.

“I just look at it like, if I marry today, would I be able to get out? In all my previous relationships, I was the one who got out because I don’t like stress.”

Timaya’s perspective on marriage reflects his desire for peace and simplicity. He admitted that he values communication and transparency in relationships above all else.

“If you have a problem with me, let’s talk about it because I don’t like going to bed thinking about things. I go die o. I don’t like anything to bother me at all,” he stated emphatically.

While marriage might not be on his immediate radar, fatherhood is a role he takes seriously.

The father of four expressed a deep love for his children, even as he acknowledged the challenges that come with being a parent.

“Being a father is stressful because I love them too much, but it’s enjoyable,” he shared. Timaya’s unique parenting arrangement sees his children living with their mothers for most of the year.

However, they regularly spend extended periods with him, including special occasions like Christmas.

“My four kids live with their mothers, so when I want to see them, I ask their mothers and they come to my house.

“We spend two to three months together, then they go back to their mothers. Christmas is coming, and they’ll spend it with me as well, but their mothers don’t come because they’re in relationships,” he explained.

Timaya emphasized the respect and familial bond he shares with the mothers of his children, ensuring a harmonious co-parenting dynamic.

“We’re all family now, so I can’t date any of them. We respect each other,” he added, showcasing his commitment to fostering a stable and loving environment for his kids.
