Lilwin previously stated in interviews that he has no affiliations with political parties, particularly the two major ones, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
To maintain his impartiality, the actor and filmmaker emphasized during an interview that he should not be associated with any political party.
He further expressed that John Dramani Mahama from the NDC has consistently shown support to the creative industry and urged other presidential candidates in Ghana to follow his example.

Additionally, Lilwin revealed that the NDC flagbearer had purchased 200 tickets for the premiere of his film titled A Country Called Ghana
“It is about time leaders in this country learn from John Mahama’s benevolence, especially towards creatives.
His support to us has been immense and I will continue to say it. This is not politics but a social call that leaders in the country need to learn,” he said in interview on Adom FM.
Lilwin revealed John Dramani Mahama’s support for his school when their school bus broke down.
