Ghanaian rap sensation Michael Owusu Addo, popularly known as Sarkodie, has set the music scene abuzz with the release of a new mixtape, ‘The Championship.’
Following the success of ‘Jamz’ and his subsequent Jamz World Tour across Europe, Sarkodie’s ‘The Championship’ is poised to further solidify his reputation as one of Africa’s finest musical talents.
The mixtape is part of his commitment to social responsibility and a way to reward his fans. He has decided to share a portion of the proceeds with some lucky fans.
The tape’s second track, ‘Brag,’ saw him indirectly call out some Nigerian artistes. He emphasised his experience and skill, highlighting his presence in the industry since the rise of Davido, Wizkid, Burna Boy, and newer artistes such as Asake and Black Sherif, resulting in a series of disses between Nigerian rapper Dremo and Ghanaian rapper Lyrical Joe and more.
Speaking to Adesope on his Afrobeats Podcast, Sarkodie reiterated that “I want my new mixtape to remind people who Sarkodie is.”
The mixtape, which dropped on May 24, features producers Fortune Dane and MOG Beats. Artistes on it include Joey B, Xlimkid, and Beeztrap KOTM.
